A Breif History - The North Shore Railroad Company (NSHR) operates out of Northumberland, PA and operates the short-line which runs between Northumberland and the PPL complex north of Berwick. They serve many industires in Danville, Bloomsburg and Berwick along this route. The Northumberland to Berwick Line was orginally the DL&W Bloomsurg Branch that ran from Scranton to Northumberland. In the late 1970's this line was consilidated into the Conrail System, then in 1984 Conrail stopped usage of the line and sold it to the SEDA-COG Rail Authority, who still retains owner ship of it today. The North Shore Railroad Company was founded in 1984 and has been operating the line since then.

The North Shore Railroad Systems also operates 5 other local short-lines: JVRR (Juniata Valley), LVRR (Lycoming Valley), NBER (Nittany & Bald Eagle), SVRR (Shamokin Valley) and the UCIR (Union County Industrial). For more information on the North Shore Railroad visit their Corporate Website at www.NSHR.com.
